New Optimum CNC machine made available for development purposes
Just in time for the starting winter semester, Hallstadt-based company Stürmer Maschinen GmbH is providing students at the Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld with a new, modern OPTIMIM FU 5 CNC machine. The environmental campus specializes in environmental planning, technology and economics and is among the top ten in the world rankings in the current GreenMetricRanking. The new OPTIMUM FU 5 milling machine will be used there for development work in the area of Industry 4.0 in order to achieve a better learning effect for the students who with this machine can now demonstrate their developments under real conditions.
The modern 5-axis machine, which weighs 10 tons and is worth around € 240,000, will initially be made available to the students free of charge for nine months. It will be used to help them develop new methods of 3D printing and thus provide new impetus in the field of Industry 4.0 and digital factories. The OPTIMUM FU5 milling machine is ideal for this, as it enables filament printing on a 3-axis machine tool in conjunction with a modern software solution via which the CNC machine with Sinumerik control can be controlled.
With this project, Stürmer continues its close cooperation with the Umwelt-Campus and enables employees and students to advance their research work in the field of 3D printing with the latest technology. With Stürmer´s support, a new milestone can be set in the further digitalization of industrial production.
