Why measure in the machine?
Your lathe represents a considerable investment. Fast cutting of complicated workpieces are some of the many plus points of the machines. However, this investment is only profitable if your machines produce as many workpieces as possible. But why do some machines stand still for hours on end?it's simple: tools are often set manually and workpieces are checked for dimensional accuracy outside the machine. In both cases, expensive equipment is at a standstill, which inevitably leads to long, unprofitable and avoidable downtimes.
Reduce downtimes, avoid rejects
Manual tool measurement, position detection of workpieces. and dimensional inspection require a lot of time. In addition, these steps are not repeatable and are prone to operator error. The use of touch probes eliminates the need for set-up stations and expensive clamping devices. The measuring software automatically determines the diameter and length of the tools, determines the position of the workpiece and detects the up and down dimensions of workpiece blanks. The use of probe systems eliminates unprofitable downtime and scrap.
Arm/housing unit with touch probe
- The compact arm/housing unit is fully sealed.
Probe protection housing
- A separate probe protection housing protects the probe when not in use.
TSI2 Interface
- The interface handles signals between the probe and the machine controller, allowing easy integration. The unit mounts to a DIN rail and features an "easy fit" mounting mechanism. Two connectors are provided for easy wiring to the HPPA (3-pin) and the machine control (25-pin SUB-D).
Advantages
- Tool measurement up to 90% faster.
- Recommended OEM arm configurations for all standard chuck sizes.
- Rugged Renishaw construction ensures trouble-free operation even in the harshest machine tool environments.
- IPX8 (static) rated protection
- LED to indicate probe status and arm readiness for use
- Stylus with "predetermined break" protects the probe if the maximum overtravel of the stylus is exceeded.
